Hi, Gracians! Cheri Bales, a member of our church, sent me this poem about our speech that I wanted to share with all of you:
The Tyrant Tongue
It is an artful dodger,
Knows the fine art of evasion
Who has a power stronger
Than the power of persuasion
One voice can change our destiny
One echo in the night
One solitary word
Can bring us bedlam or delight
We each possess this tyrant
Or is it the one possessing?
First assault with your deadly weapon
And then do your confessing
We can murder, maim, or mesmerize
We're at the mercy of each other
When our mouths control our minds
Then we can only run for cover
And if there's one thing we've bequeathed
To our heir apparent young
It's the angry untamed beast
Of our own tyrannic tongue.

This is a great follow-up to this past week’s sermon on Proverbs about the tongue. Remember, the verses mentioned as well as others are available for your personal study on our website.
