There are a few things to consider when giving online:
Fees - Giving online costs the church 3%. So, if you’re already giving, the church would receive less of your gift if you went digital. If giving online is just a better fit for you, there’s a box you can check to cover the fees. This adds the 3% on top of your gift so the church still receives all of what you intended to give.
Recurring Gifts – Are you forgetful? I know I’ve forgotten to write a check before I left home and had to catch up the next week. If you want to make sure you don’t forget, it’s possible to set things up as a recurring gift by checking a box selecting a schedule.
Credit Cards – This online platform gives users the option to give by credit card or from their bank account. With credit cards comes the possibility that people will take on debt to give. Please don’t! If you choose to use your credit card to take advantage of rewards programs or for some other reason, please make sure you’re not giving money you don’t have.
Giving in churches is more than just a way to make budget. After all, God’s the one who provides for our needs. Giving is a part of discipleship and online giving is part of that commitment. Our hope is online giving will better enable us to be generous and thus be conformed more and more into the image of the Son.
