Word of the week: Disaster

Once again, disaster has struck our nation. Hurricane Harvey continues to dump rain on exhausted Texans and leave many people homeless. Like Katrina, Harvey will leave Texas rebuilding for many years to come. Some of you have donated already for emergency relief. Very good. I encourage you to support the PCA’s disaster relief agency.

This website gives you updates. Our denomination will be working with PCA churches in the disaster zone to begin relieving the suffering of church members and their neighbors. You can go and serve, or you can send money and pray. You may even consider donating regularly for some months ahead. Teams will be going down to help restore homes for years to come. Katrina relief lasted three or four years.

Lord, have mercy on our nation! Give us compassionate hearts and great generosity. Send many of your people to help all those in need. Stop the rains and send refreshing sunshine to dry the land. In Jesus’ name!
