Word of the Week: Eight

Side note: Lately, the worship center has been uncomfortably hot on Sundays.  There is a malfunction in the system we discovered today, so we hope to return to more comfortable temperatures indoors. There is a lot working against cool temperatures on these hot days, but only having 2/3 of the system working is always a problem

Eight:  That is the magic number for a full roster of children’s ministry workers.  We have a bunch, but with transfers and people changing volunteer slots (some had three jobs already!), we need eight more people.

We think we have a great setup for our children’s ministry. The children through fifth grade have different needs than the middle through high school kids do.  Children’s church helps meet that need while reinforcing the ministry of the church as a whole.

If you are willing to teach children’s church, we could use your help.  We’re looking for four adults to serve once a month during the 10:45 service to meet this need. We’re looking for four more adults to serve in Children’s Foundations, either teaching or assisting.

This is an important discipleship ministry.  Someone in children’s ministry (and at home) gave me the gospel when I was the same age as these children.  I don’t even know which teacher it was!  But at the right time, I knew enough that Christ confronted me with the gospel of Jesus - apart from anyone else being in the conversation.  They put the gospel in my heart, and it answered the internal soul questions of a young boy the way no other options could.  It answered my questions, I believed in the gospel of Jesus, and my life started changing.  A nameless Sunday school teacher…probably waiting for me in heaven…can’t wait to see him or her again!

Eight: that’s what we need.  Pray about it for us.  Consider serving with us.  Encourage someone else to join us.
