Word of the week: Three

What if our real “mission field” could be reduced to three?  That’s three friends, neighbors, or relatives for whom we pray to receive Christ or be renewed in their faith if they’ve walked away.   I’m friends with these three, and my friendship doesn’t depend on them joining the “Jesus team”.  But in my secret prayer life, I’m praying for a breakthrough.  I’m listening intently in serious conversations to understand their belief system.  And very gently, when it seems wise, I talk about Christ and what He means in my life.

We said a week ago that if we each had three friends like this, that makes GCC’s first mission field around 300 or more people we know.  So here is one more thought: would any of the three consider coming to church?  Would it be wise to invite them to one of our Easter services?  I have an atheist friend who I want to take to lunch, but I don’t think he’d come to church.  Other friends might, though.  Because we will have two services on Easter Sunday (and for the following 10 weeks), there will be plenty of parking and lots of room.
