On Sunday, Pastor Tag Tuck stood in front of the congregation and held up an acorn. “This is an oak tree,” he told us. As if that wasn’t hard enough to believe, he then went on to describe in detail what this oak tree is like. Did you see it? No, your eyes weren’t fooling you. It wasn’t an oak tree – not yet. But it will be. Church planting is like that, sowing seeds for what will be.
Starting on January 1st, Pastor Tag’s call transitioned from Grace Community Church to the Blue Ridge Presbytery in order to plant Word & Table PCA. The Tuck Family – Tag, Gina, Ian, and Norah – joined us on Sunday with an update about this new church plant. In short, Word & Table is an acorn we pray will grow into a mighty oak tree in Pantops, bringing the gospel to people who call no church home.
So where do you come in?
Consider Praying – If there’s a PCA church on Pantops, it’s because God put it there. Pray for the Tucks and their team as they establish an outpost of God’s kingdom in Pantops. Pray that God will raise up the necessary leaders. Pray that he’ll provide the needed funds. Pray that he’ll draw in people who haven’t put their faith in Christ.
Consider Giving – Pastor Tag told us that they were about 53% of the way toward their financial goal. Maybe the Lord is calling you to move the needle a little more? You can even give online.
Consider Going – While Word & Table is seeking to reach those who don’t know Jesus, that mission requires a foundation of passionate believers who want to love their neighbors. Maybe you live or work near Pantops. Maybe you have a heart for the lost. Maybe God’s calling you to join the team.
