Word of the Week

Word of the Week: Plant

Churches are planted, not started. That’s the official lingo. It’s a good word, because churches are not buildings, or even people (as the children’s song says), churches are living organisms. They are a community of God’s people where His Spirit is at work. Ephesians 4:1-16 describes the church in organic terms. We are a living group that is interconnected.

We are blessed to be a part of a new church plant in our city. Word and Table PCA is a church plant of our Blue Ridge Presbytery that is starting on Pantops Mountain. Our pastor Tag Tuck and his family are leading the way. On January 1st Tag will no longer by a pastor at Grace, and will move to being called (similar to “hired”) by the Blue Ridge Presbytery. On January 7th Grace Church will send out Tag and Gina and others too. We will recognize the five years of service the Tucks had with us. You can put notes of appreciation and blessing in the offering boxes in the worship center between now and January 7th. They will be presented to the Tucks that Sunday.

One way we want to bless them is to give gifts to the church plant. Between now and January 7th we are collecting checks (instructions below) for the new church plant. We are keeping track of the gifts and will let the Tucks know how much has been given. If your gifts come to us by December 24th we will see that they arrive before the year end in Atlanta (MNA headquarters).  Already some generous gifts have come in! Who knows what God will do? Praise His Name! There are so many “asks” at this time of year. Thanks to those of you who give to this project to reach those in Pantops whose religious affiliation is “none”.

Instructions for Giving:

Checks can be made out to Mission to North America, and designated for Pantops, VA Church Plant – Tag Tuck. You can also give online here, if you prefer.
