Word of the Week: Remember

Caron and I are going to have a chance this weekend to remember some special people and a wonderful season of our lives. For nine years we planted and pastored a church in Dayton, Ohio. Our daughter Anna was born there, and we have many happy memories there. This Sunday, South Dayton Presbyterian Church celebrates 25 years since the organization (electing of her first elders) of the church. Caron and I will join the celebration, and I will preach there this Sunday and we will participate in their 3:00 PM celebration.

There were lots of ups and downs in those years, and times I wondered whether the church would survive.  It sounds like they are thriving and reaching out solidly to their neighborhood.  We will miss you all this Sunday, but are thankful for this opportunity.

I hope you get the chance once in a while to remember a great season of your life when you saw God do great things in tough times. Next year we should take a bit of time to remember his kindness to Grace Community Church - after all, we will be 20 years old in 2017!
