Word of the week: Good Reads
One of the great things about a sabbatical is all the time to read great books. I want to recommend one I did read, and one I didn’t get to. Our church library and our local library both have copies of Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by Eric Metaxas. It is a well-written and understandable biography of this famous German pastor who opposed the Nazis and gave his life to stand for truth. It was a very accessible read, full of good content.
Someone came up and asked about books about Martin Luther. I recommend Roland Bainton’s Here I Stand. I had planned to read it this summer, and didn’t quite get there. I think you will find it readable and thorough. You might have to have your computer nearby to look up a person, title, or doctrine. Luther is one of the most influential men in the last 500 years. We could all learn from him - his greatness and his weakness!
In Him,
