Word of the Week

Word of the week: Plans

We mentioned our five-year planning process some time ago.  Here is a quick update.  We have all your surveys completed and collated.  An excellent summary of the results was created.  Even today I’m taking some time to go over all the information personally to get an overall sense of the responses.  I think I’m about on the second or third read through of the results, and some things are taking shape in my own mind as I see the results.

The process we are following was designed by our consultant David Lam, based on some of the ideas on the book The Advantage by Patrick Lencioni.  David is meeting with the elders this week to help us make sense of the results of our surveys, and to think through six critical questions of our life together as a church.

The end result of this process should be greater clarity and focus as a church, and a five-year plan with some immediate action steps on the most critical items.  I’m not sure whether we will walk away from Saturday’s meeting with all of that, or have a number of significant conversations ahead. We will communicate about these steps as we go along, and throughout the years ahead.

Thank you so much for your specific and through feedback on our ministry.  There were some exciting ideas put forth from you.  Many of you are ready to push Grace Community Church out the doors, and into a hurting and needy world.  Others of you challenged us to implement more clearly our motto of discipleship through relationship. I hope by God’s power we can live up to the dreams for Grace which you shared!

Will you pray for us, that the Lord will guide us and lead us to a clearer vision and direction for our future?  I’m excited, hopeful, and frankly, a little nervous as we start getting down to specifics.  Pray with me and for all of us!

In Him,

Don
