Word of the Week

Word of the week: Changes!

Changes. Are you a change person or a non-change person? There are both types in every organization! I know I can be mixed on that - I don’t like changes when things are working great but I am sometimes too quick to make a change when they are not.

As mentioned last Sunday, after the elders spent some of their last two meetings evaluating our two-service format, they have decided to make a change. This fall, we will be at one service. We believe we will be much better together in everything we do as a church.

But we are considering another change:  We are thinking about keeping worship at 9:30 this fall and having Foundations after that. We want to make a good decision, so we are doing a couple of things. First, we are trying out 9:30 AM this summer so you have a chance to try on the “shoes” and run with them a bit. Our family’s favorite athletic shoe store is the only place I know of that lets you walk or run in your shoes for a bit, and then bring them back. We are trying the new service time first before we make a decision for the fall.

Then, we are going to survey you in a few weeks to get your feedback. Meanwhile, why not grab an elder or deacon and give them your thoughts about our proposed fall schedule? We really want to know what you think about this, and especially how it affects you!

Random thought: If you missed church this past week, you might have missed that Janice Eiden’s father died early Saturday morning. There will be a memorial service this Saturday, June 16, at 11:00 AM at Grace.

Lastly, Tom and I drive to Atlanta on Tuesday to participate in the Presbyterian Church in America General Assembly. Would you pray for us and for these church leaders as they consider various matters this week? Thanks church!

In Christ,

Don
