Word of the Week

Things seemingly come in groups of three. An earthquake in Nepal, riots in Baltimore, and the highest court in our land deliberating on an issue with epic ramifications—what a week it is! Friends, God is still Our Sovereign on His glorious throne. While we aren’t privy to all the reasons or the exact details of His working (Isaiah 55:8-9), we can rest assured that we are not forgotten. His plans are still to prosper His church.

We’ll sing that truth from Jeremiah 29:11 during corporate public worship this week. The song does not talk about an easy life or the absence of trouble for those who follow Christ. It does, however, remind us of God’s presence with us in the fire and flood. That same presence was with Noah, who was righteous in his generation, in the midst of the floodwaters that cleansed the earth. It was with Daniel’s three friends in the fiery furnace prepared for them by a king who tried to set himself in the place of God. That presence is yours this week wherever you find yourself.

I can’t wait to be gathered in worship with you this Sunday where we can experience His presence together especially at the Lord’s table as we celebrate communion as part of corporate public worship.

Walking with you in the awareness of His nearness,
