Word of the Week

What a week it has been at Grace! Don has begun his sabbatical and I have received a few updates from him. He is enjoying New York and had a wonderful opportunity to interview the executive pastor of the well-known Redeemer PCA. He’s managed to navigate the public transit with little to no problems.

Earlier this week one of our members was quoted as saying, “I had a strong sense that the Lord was moving me to pray for the protection of our church.” Certainly the enemy of Christ’s church would love to make the most of this opportunity while Don is away to tempt us all as a body. So let’s not be surprised that there have been two traffic incidents this week involving our members and also an emergency repair on the front fascia of the building that was threatening to fall. If these are the visible things we see, what of the invisible?

Let us throw ourselves on the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ who sustains us through the power of the Holy Spirit when we pray for strength, wisdom, endurance, and the encouragement to live our lives for Him in our Father’s world!

Pray for the peace of our city (cf. Jeremiah 29:7) this week, dear friends, both the visible city of Charlottesville and the city of God, which is the Church.

In Him,
