Word of the Week: Marriage Resources
Wow, I had to cover a lot of ground in yesterday’s sermon on “The Meaning of Marriage.” Let me clean up a few things.
First, widows. No one said anything to me, but afterwards I realized I didn’t say anything about you. One thing is for sure, the Bible has a lot to say about care for widows. If I had another crack at it, I’d talk about our care for you. Thanks for not hammering me for neglecting such an important group of people.
Second, resources. I didn’t give you a great resource list, so here are a few good ones:
The Meaning of Marriage by Tim and Kathy Keller
Intimate Allies by Dan Allender and Tremper Longman III
Lifelong Love Affair: How to have a passionate and deeply rewarding marriage - (One of our elders and his wife read this and recommended it…I’m getting to it myself)
Recovery from Divorce by Bob Burns
Sexual Sanity for Men (and there is one for women too!) by David White.
For addiction, homosexuality, and transgender issues, a good starting place is the website of Harvest USA. They also offer phone counseling and various seminars on everything from divorce to parenting.
I’m looking forward to our next series, where we go from Palm Sunday to the Second Coming!
Lastly, we had a great weekend with our Youth Director candidate, Sean Smith and his fiancée, Gabby Miller (soon to be Smith). I hope to have some more information for you very soon.
Love,
Don
