Word of the Week

Word of the Week: Frantic!

Frantic: wild or distraught with fear, anxiety, or other emotion

On a day before I leave for a few days of training, frantic sounds like a great word. Are your Mondays ever frantic? Are too many things in your inbox from last week, and you feel behind before you get started? We probably overuse the word frantic, as we aren’t quite “wild or distraught” for real. I have been frantic - once I had my neighbor knock on my door to tell me Caron and Anna had been in a car accident…. the longest ten-minute drive in my memory. The story had a happy ending. Routine life can feel frantic even if I really am being metaphorical.

The day’s challenges can leave us feeling frantic, or perhaps we are finding the pace of our day is frenetic. What a great time to see if we can pause for a few minutes, and pull out a favorite verse from scripture, and pray. How about:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (John 14:27 ESV)

In the middle of what feels like complete craziness, let’s learn to stop and drink in the Lord Jesus by faith…to rest in Him for our peace.

In Him,

Don
