Word of the Week: Various

Various: different from one another; of different kinds or sorts.

I see God at work around us in many ways. Various is just the right description. The youth teams from many nearby local churches managed to attract over 200 students to a big event in Greene County this Sunday. That’s impressive in so many ways, starting with the fact that all these diverse churches worked together so well.

There are smaller, more personal ways I see God working that are also impressive, although smaller and quieter. A member stepped up to fill a gap in children’s ministry that he observed, without being asked. That is rare and precious! A regular attender expressed interest in making his public profession of faith in Christ, and several others are considering similar steps. One small group recently did a great job caring for a single member of our church who was sick.  Personally, our family experienced special kindness recently that was much appreciated.

It’s not every day that something big happens, but God is at work in various ways. I don’t want to miss the smaller ways, that have their own unique beauty and wonder. Let’s keep our eyes open for God’s various ways of working in our lives
