Word of the Week

Word of the week: MLK

It is MLK week at Grace Community Church. For the past several years, we have been blessed to host the Martin Luther King service for the Greene County Ministerial Association on the Sunday night before the MLK holiday. It is a joyous, energetic service that features music from several churches, arts in the form of dancing and mime, and lively preaching. This year the service starts an hour earlier at 6:00 PM, which helps families thinking about ducking out and putting kids to bed.

Following the service is a time of fellowship. Thus, bring yourself and your family, an offering of any amount (checks to Greene County Ministerial Association), and some food to share.

It is a chance to live out the visible unity of the body of Christ. It’s a chance to grieve our past as a nation in terms of our treatment of others. It’s a chance to hope, dream and experience a brighter future in the Lord. It’s a chance to work together with other Christians.

I had the privilege this past May to help present the scholarships to three bright young students at William Monroe High School. What a joy it was to see the body of Christ represented at a “secular” event. I looked out and saw some of our families at the scholarship evening.

I hope to see dozens of you there!

In Him,

Don
