Word of the Week: Fasten
It’s 2017. Fasten your seat belts, Grace Community Church. This Sunday is a bit of an unveiling of countless hours of work by the elders of your church. A good number of hours were spent in 2016 working on a tune up of Grace’s ministry. The purpose of this tune up was to develop goals for the next five years that would be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound. Before we got to those goals, we spent some time on the engine and transmission, cleaning out some gunk, replacing some worn parts, and bringing things back up to factory specification and beyond. It was hard work.
Why fasten your seat belt? Because we’ve all heard our share of great words in church mission statements. I love mission statements. I love being a part of the process of creating them. But great words are not enough. The reality is that perspiration must meet inspiration. Some of that perspiration is fervent prayer. Some of it is literally sweating and striving to accomplish a great goal for Christ and his church in a fallen world. Buckle up. It’s time to perspire after we inspire! See you Sunday!
In Him,
Don
