Church Membership Unites Us

Have you ever wondered why church membership is so important? “Can’t I just do this Christian life all on my own?” I know I have thought this at some points in my walk. In the next couple weeks, we are going to look at why church membership is important for us as believers. This week we will look at how being church members unites us.

Church membership as Christians is an important part of our growth in our walk with the Lord. When you commit to membership in a church, you are held to a standard that you just won’t get outside of being involved with a local church. This is a huge part of our growth. We need people to walk through life with us. We need people to tell us when we mess up and to encourage us when we are doing well. It is an amazing thing to talk and pray with people who have been there and know what you are going through. It is so important for your own walk with the Lord but it also is important for the other members of the church.

The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 that we all play special roles in the body of Christ. The Lord has gifted all of us in certain ways to be a part of His Body, the Church. So being a church member is not just for yourself but for others in the church. The Lord has gifted all of us in different ways and when we become members of the local church we are able to use those gifts to help our brothers and sisters in the Lord. If we keep all those gifts to ourselves and don’t use them for the glory of God, we are wasting the gifts our Father has given us. Church membership is so important for all of us and the Lord has given us the great honor of being able to walk through our lives with other believers. Praise God for that!
