A Word from Our Pastor

“Come over to Macedonia and help us.”  That’s from the passage in Acts 16 which we will look at in depth this coming Sunday.

A few months back a professor from UVA came into my office and asked for help right here in Charlottesville.  His church, Korean Community Church of Charlottesville, is starting an English language service to reach out to the families around them from other nations besides Korea.  That’s where I was on Sunday: preaching for them in their English language service.  Our own Joe Varaksa is also helping with this effort.

I bring this to your attention to remind you - during this month’s sermon series Global/Local - that we live in a remarkable community.  There are a group of believers worshipping in our city in the Korean language.  How amazing is that!  They, like us, have a heart for neighbors who haven’t connected with God.  They asked for help from several other churches.

Keep your eyes open.  There are people from all over the world all around us.  That is one of the blessings and opportunities of our town.  Sometimes they come and ask for our help.  More times than not, they need us to reach out to them in friendship and support.  In those friendships we have opportunity for the global gospel here locally!

In Him,

Don
