A Word from Our Pastor

I want to encourage you this week to think about the story of how you and Jesus got connected.  I really enjoyed preaching from the story in John 4.  Jesus was amazing with that particular woman.  She was pretty amazing, too, in that she went home right away and starting talking about Jesus.  “Come meet a man who told me everything…”.  I wonder if there were a few raised eyebrows?

I’m reading a book my neighbor gave me called Fearless about a Navy Seal who was killed in action.  Most of the first part of this book is a terrific story of this man and his terrible battle with addiction, and his journey to faith in Christ.  I can’t wait to talk to my neighbor about that part.

Stories are powerful.  They start spiritual conversations.  You have a story to tell. It may be about God’s gracious preservation of your life in bringing you to faith at your childhood bedside.  That is a great story, and the things that followed are great stories.  Others of you have a story like the woman in John 4.  How Jesus rescued you is your story, and God will use it in others lives.

As I said Sunday, learn to tell your story in 3-5 minutes, and learn to incorporate the essentials of the gospel into the story  (“I believed in Jesus Christ and experienced the forgiveness of my sins).  God can use your story to start His story in another person’s life!  Let’s get started!

See you Sunday!
