Broken is a beautiful word. Broken implies something was once whole. It was all in one piece. It was once functional, or even beautiful. It has all the qualities it once had, but it isn’t all together. This week at Grace we saw that the world is broken- we are broken. This was brought home to me afterwards when I learned that a friend of mine was killed in a bicycle accident. He had his helmet on, and he was experienced and athletic. But the world is not as God originally made it. It is broken. We are broken. That means, till he comes, there is sometimes sadness and great loss. Broken, still beautiful. Even so, come Lord Jesus.
