The word of the week is repentance. As we discussed Sunday, it is beautiful to God, and a blessing to us. It is a gift and grace from God for which we are free to pray for ourselves and others. In a nasty conflict? Pray that God will grant all parties involved (yourself included) repentance unto life. Jonah 3 is a massive repentance story. Imagine if we saw any version of that? It would be stunning.
I mentioned a book on the Great Awakening: Iain Murray’s book Revival and Revivalism. Can I add a few recommendations? How about George Whitefield: God's Anointed Servant in the Great Revival of the Eighteenth Century by Arnold Dalimore. He also has a two volume set. Great reading. I also enjoyed reading a book about Wesley entitled The Burning Heart. If you want to learn about times when repentance went through American and England like a fire, I recommend these books.
Have a great week!
