This week at Grace we were privileged to have time with Pastor Joe Slater, the new RUF pastor at my alma mater, James Madison University.  RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) is the grace and gospel driven college ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America.  A new chapter is starting at JMU.

It is a vital ministry.  Research showed that at James Madison only about 10% of students are engaged in either campus ministry or local church ministry. The number may be artificially high because some are involved in both (church and campus ministry).  That means that 18,000 students in nearby Harrisonburg, VA are currently not engaged in Christian community.   It is a huge mission field.

We live in a college town.  I wonder how many unreached people there are at UVA and Piedmont?  I wonder if there are ways that we could make a difference there for the sake of Christ and His kingdom?
